STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING DESIGN
Richard Herrmann Associates Ltd. carry out the structural design for both longstanding and new Clients, involved in many different industries. The introductory synopsis below highlights the extent and range of our typical involvement, although this is not an exhaustive list.

We have been designing the structure of schools in the Cambridgeshire area for over 15 years, with Cambridgeshire County Council having been a long standing Client. We are also involved in a partnering agreement with Ely Diocesan Board of Education, carrying out the design of schools located throughout East Anglia. The partnering agreement is one of the first of it's kind in the country, with many successful projects having been achieved, on time and on budget.
Richard Herrmann Associates Ltd. have gained extensive experience within the hospital and healthcare industry, designing the structure for new operating theatres, wards, plant rooms, meeting rooms, etc. Dedicated design has been carried out for structure associated with the support of hospital equipment such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners, CT scanners (both floor and ceiling mounted), surgeons display panels, theatre laminar flow canopies, etc
Swimming pools, squash courts, gymnasiums, meeting halls, changing facilities all feature on our extensive list of previous leisure sector projects. Each type of building is designed to meet the high-standards required of both the Client, and the end-user, ensuring that the building is suitable for its' intended use for the duration of its' life. Particular consideration is provided to unusual design issues, such as the high temperature changes/humidity levels associated with swimming pools, impact of sports equipment in gymnasiums etc.
Industrial projects often require unique design criteria, placing unusual restrictions on the structural options. The support of mechanical equipment often imparts large loads to the structure, along with requiring limitations on vibration characteristics. Richard Herrmann Associates Ltd. has designed structure associated with grain silos, smolting processes, car manufacture plants.
Previous commercial property design includes extensive office units for County Councils, Developers and private companies, all looking to maximise the potential advantages of creating modern, efficient working environments. Previous projects include energy efficient buildings utilising heat recovery ventilation systems within the structural floor units, specific glazing support requirements and interface of structural design with architectural details.

MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY SUPPORT STRUCTURES
The design of frames and gantries to support bespoke and specialist equipment is carried out to the Client's strict requirements, often involving particular consideration of vibration and deflection limitations of the supporting structure.
We often work closely with manufacturing engineers to provide justification of framework already detailed, or provide original design advice and guidance should it be required.
Fabrication drawings and assembly parts lists can also be produced for steelwork manufacture.
Richard Herrmann Associates Ltd. has established and maintained excellent relationships with retail Clients looking to provide their customers with first grade shopping experiences. Through close liaison with the Project Design Team we have developed structural designs of superstores, shopping centres, car dealerships and many other types of retail outlets to suit Client design criteria and timescales. Projects often include support of Client specific mechanical & electrical equipment, plant and services.
