Significant steelwork engineering was conducted on this project. Steelwork columns and beams were designed to provide stability to the new entrance area, and the frame of the existing building was altered and adjusted to suit the proposed layout.
The complexities of dealing with dilapidated concrete elements were overcome by carrying out detailed and intrusive investigations on site, both before and during construction. The stability and restraint of the concrete façade panels were also addressed.
The civil engineering element of the project involved road and car park pavement design.
