Civil engineering design

Enabling the landscape to serve client needs. Discover how Richard Herrmann Associates Ltd can support your endeavour, from the provision of a new car park to changing the topography with retaining walls. We’ll do what it takes to ensure your installation delivers.

The foundations of infrastructure and innovation

Civil engineering is the unseen framework that supports everything from roads and bridges to drainage systems and utilities. And it starts with getting the fundamentals right, integrating essential systems that allow your structure to function as intended. By working with developers and local authorities, we can deliver everything your project needs, whether that’s an access road or flood risk management system, with each element carefully considered in the context of the site’s geography, environmental conditions, and project specific needs.

As a forward-thinking firm, Richard Herrmann Associates Ltd designs with a long-term view, ensuring that the infrastructure we create will stand the test of time while minimising environmental impact. Sustainability is a key focus in our work, and we believe our clients can utilise this to reduce your development’s carbon footprint and enhance the project in the long run. From concept to completion, we have the technical expertise and project management skills needed to ensure your infrastructure surpasses the highest standards. Learn more from our team in Cambridge.

Utilising advanced computer simulations

Utility infrastructure is the lifeblood of any development, and getting it right requires careful planning and coordination. We work closely with utility providers to guarantee all systems are installed in the most efficient and cost-effective ways, avoiding conflicts or delays during construction. The use of advanced computer simulated vehicle tracking also allows us to ensure that road and access layouts are achievable for various vehicle types, such as refuse collection lorries, heavy goods vehicles, cars and vans. To this end, RHA is a partner that considers everything, including those factors you may have overlooked.

Versatile civil engineers, considerate of your needs

Our civil engineering design services can take us in many different directions, but usually involve advising clients on suitable road and car park layouts or designing the pavement or hardstanding construction, including permeable surfaces. That said, we’re always ready for a new challenge, and find great satisfaction in helping you overcome the complexities of even the most unique of projects. Given our experience in the industry – over 3 decades! – we provide construction details for items such as kerbs, steps, ramps and handrailing and carry out design and detailing of entire drainage systems for both foul and surface water, including attenuation within crates, swales, and ponds. Choose us for expertise you can trust.

Structural Assessment

"I contacted Richard Herrmann to attend one of my factories to access the structural strength of the roof joists. The cost of a site visit was reasonably priced, within a matter of days I had the report in my hand. This is the second time I have used Richard Herrmann Associates, very impressed with the service, I will be using Richard Herrmann Associates again in the future."
