Creating versatile, productive environments
Manufacturing facilities have one main goal in common; to drive productivity and maintain quality standards. That’s why designing these spaces with their purpose and user needs at the forefront is crucial. We work closely with building engineers and your management teams to understand these factors, problem-solve, and reach an appropriate plan of action that’s centred around overcoming your specific challenge.
With a deep understanding of the need for discretion and professionalism when dealing with commercially sensitive or high-cost processes, we have worked in many demanding areas and in sensitive production plants across Cambridge and the wider UK. The level of insight we can bring to the table, is one of the many reasons we continue to welcome repeat custom and new clients just like you.
Bespoke design services that reap results
Change can be constant in the world of manufacturing, which is why we approach each project with flexibility in mind. Our expertise has taken us down many avenues; improving car park drainage issues, quantifying existing mezzanine floor strength, attaching lift hoists to existing roof beams, and the more complex of projects, involving bespoke, detailed framing. Our engineers think differently, being open to new challenges and using their ingenuity to achieve exceptional results.
Enhancing your existing manufacturing building
Over our many years in the industry, we’ve learnt that downtime just isn’t an option for the manufacturing sector - efficiency plays a crucial role in making these environments successful. As your needs and processes adapt, Richard Herrmann Associates Ltd is here to manage the enhancement or expansion of your facility, with consideration of your business needs. Following a thorough investigation of the existing structure, we’ll determine any areas of improvement, aligning with your structural goals, and commence works around production and access restrictions without compromising our service quality.

Steel storage racking
Steel storage racking within an industrial manufacturing building had been struck by multiple impacts from fork lift trucks. The columns were inspected on site to assess the level and type of damage that had occurred. The columns were modeled using FE analysis with varying degrees of damage to establish which columns were in need of repair and detailed drawings were prepared for the remedial works.
